Dennis Michael Floody

August 31, 1951 — May 29, 2018

Dennis Michael Floody…

was born to James and Beulah (Pechtal) Floody on August 31, 1951 in Pipestone, Minnesota where he was raised and received his education. After his graduation from Pipestone High School, he attended Southwest State University in Marshall and Vermillion State Jr. College in Ely, Minnesota where he received his Associate in Arts Degree. He then went on to Bemidji State University for his Bachelor of Science degree which he received in November, 1984. Upon completion of his education, he continued to live in Bemidji working at Concordia Language Villages. Throughout the years, he was a self-employed painter. On May 27, 2018, Dennis was admitted in the Sanford Medical Center ND in Fargo, North Dakota where he died on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the age of 66 years, eight months and 28 days.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Beulah Floody of Pipestone, Minnesota; his siblings, Dale Floody (Virginia) of Holmen, Wisconsin, Dean Floody of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Marcia Delisle of Kitchener, Ontario, Maureen and Dave Trnka of Mandan, North Dakota and Don Floody of Pipestone; his nieces and nephews, Angela Floody, Evan Floody, Nathan Floody, Heather (Justin) Schmidt, Ryan (Jackie) Delisle, Wesley (Allison) Delisle and Jeremiah (Dianna) Trnka; and great-nephews, Caleb and Evan Floody and Frederick Trnka. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Floody and his brothers, Doug Floody and David Floody.

Dennis was a lifelong learner and a persistent protector of the earth. He enjoyed reading to fill his mind with new facts in his quest for knowledge. He lived day to day without a lot of structure or routines. He thrived in activities such as canoeing, fishing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, harvesting wild rice, making maple syrup and planting trees. He literally lived the majority of his life in the middle of the beauty, smells and sounds of the outdoors that he loved and protected. Dennis was a very caring, witty, sentimental individual. He’s taken his final voyage in his search for wisdom, solitude, happiness and serenity. May he rest in peace.
