DONNA JEAN (APLAND) PIEPER was born to Wallace and Lauraine (Bose) Apland in Slayton, Minnesota on September 5, 1928. She was baptized in the Lake Wilson Lutheran church and attended country school in Lake Wilson and Jasper, Minnesota. She was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jasper, where she married Ralph Pieper on September 12, 1948. They resided in Jasper all their married life. Ralph passed away June 11, 1997. Donna continued to live in their home until her death on Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, Minnesota at the age of 91 years, seven months, and 26 days.
She was a member of the ELC in Jasper for over 75 years. Donna was employed at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone for 15 years, retiring as the Dietary supervisor in 1979. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother in the 1960s and a friend and supporter of the Humane Society, Doctors without Borders, and the Marie Sandvik Center for many years until her death.
She is survived by her two sons, Brian (Carol) of Watertown, South Dakota and Barry (Cathy) of Hugo, Minnesota; a daughter, Bonnie (Arden Petersen) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; five grandsons, Jason and Chris Pieper, Nathan Petersen, and Max and Lewis Pieper; a granddaughter, Emily Pieper; and great-granddaughter, Hailee Pieper. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother.
