Doreen Krog

Doreen Carol Krog was born on July 31, 1950 to Arnold and Lorraine (Pfarr) Olsen in Tyler, Minnesota. She received her confirmation on May 2, 1965 at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler. She attended Lake Benton Public School in Lake Benton, Minnesota and graduated in 1968. Doreen worked at Alexander’s Cafe & as the bookkeeper for Lake Benton Co-op for many years. On October 28, 1983, Doreen was united in marriage to Leon Krog in Brookings, South Dakota. After their marriage, the couple moved to Brookings where Doreen worked in the K-Mart men’s department until they moved to their lake home on the shores of Lake Benton in the summer of 1985. Doreen was a stay-at-home mom until 1988 when she became part owner with her sister, Lisa, and opened Perfect Styles Beauty Shop in Marshall, Minnesota. In 1995, Doreen went to work at the County House Supper Club & Viere’s Standard Station in Lake Benton and then in 2004 at the Corner Store & later the Log Cabin Drive-Inn in Tyler until her retirement. In 2005, Doreen and Leon moved to Tyler. Leon preceded her in death on July 24, 2009. In October 2023, Doreen moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Cottonwood, Minnesota, and then in June 2024 to Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, Minnesota, where on Sunday, November 10, 2024, Doreen passed away at the age of 74 years, 3 months, and 11 days.

Doreen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. In her spare time, Doreen enjoyed watching and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, bird watching, thrifting, reading, and scrapbooking. She also enjoyed quilting and playing cards with her mom and dad. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Doreen is lovingly remembered by her children, Mark (Lynn) Utley of Jefferson, Texas, Allen (Melanie) Olsen of Cottonwood, and Trevor Krog of Brookings; siblings, Carol (Marv) Nissel of New Ulm, Leon (Ann) Olsen of New Ulm, Larry (Brenda) Olsen of Lake Benton, and Lisa (Phil) Myhrberg of Marshall; three grandchildren, Kobe Krog, Jordan Olsen, and Jamison Olsen; and one great-grandchild, Kinsley Krog and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Krog; and parents, Arnold and Lorraine Olsen.
