Dorothy Madsen was born May 16, 1921 to Faye Stella (Wooden) Bullington and Josiah William Bullington at Summit, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Richard Madsen on March 1, 1942 at Gretna Green in Reno, Nevada. They lived in San Diego, California until Dick had to go in the Army in 1942. The couple returned to the Tyler and Ruthton area where they farmed and raised their family and to live out their years together. To this union two daughters were born, Barbara and Linda. Richard died in 1983. Moving to Lakeville, Minnesota in 2001 allowed her to spend great amounts of time with family and to add many new friends to her life. Dorothy died Monday, March 26, 2012 in Lakeville, Minnesota at the age of 90.
Dorothy was a kind and gentle soul. She spent many years as a farmer’s wife and all the things that entailed. She worked in the Buffalo Ridge State Bank for 20 years and also became the City Clerk of Ruthton for 14 years. Dorothy enjoyed bowling with many groups of people, including her twin sister. She especially enjoyed time spent with her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Barbara Bothof of Apple Valley and Linda (and Tom) Holley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Richard, her parents, and eight other siblings, including twin sister Doris (Evan) Uhrich of Oregon.
Blessed be her memory!
Following the interment at Danebod Cemetery, please join the family for food and fellowship at the Danebod Folk School, located on the Danebod Lutheran Church Campus in Tyler.
