Edna (Lubben) Haraldson was born on May 3, 1927 to Ray and Johanna (Lolkus) Lubben in the family home in Moulton Township in Murray County, Minnesota. Edna attended the Leota Christian School until the 8th grade. Following her education, Edna helped her parents at their creamery and helped take care of her younger siblings. She then attended nursing school and became a CNA, working in various places in Minnesota and Michigan. Edna returned to Minnesota and married Vern Haraldson on February 5, 1955. The young couple moved to Jasper, Minnesota, living in the home of Vern’s grandmother, Matilda. The young family then moved to a farm south of Ruthton, Minnesota and then moved to a farm near Twin Lakes in 1965. Once the children were old enough, Edna worked at the Tyler nursing home in Tyler, Minnesota. Edna and Vern continued to live on the farm until 2003, when they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota. In 2012, Edna moved to the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. Vern preceded Edna in death on August 2, 2014. Edna died peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone at the age of 92 years, three months, and seven days.
Edna was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton and was active in the St. Mark’s Ladies’ Aid. Edna knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, and baking her special recipe chocolate chip cookies. She had a love of music and sang in choir during her younger years. She was a selfless person that was willing to take care of others’ needs before her own. Edna also had an affinity for details, keeping her home immaculate and keeping highly detailed notes. Above all else, Edna loved her family. She had a special bond with each of her children and adored the time that she spent with her grandchildren and her great- grandchildren. Nothing brought more joy to her life than family.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Vicki (Rich) Hubbling of Hardwick, Minnesota, Kevin Haraldson of Oak Park, Minnesota, Craig (Pam) Haraldson of Pipestone, Lori (Brian) Houselog of Holland, Lisa (Michael) Zeinstra of Holland, and Valerie (Jeff) Wagner of Mondovi, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Kim Smith, Justin Smith, Ryan (Lindsey) Haraldson, Shana (Sam) Morse, Josh (Angie) Houselog, Jordan (Kiley) Houselog, Jayden Houselog, Amanda (Scott) O’Neil, Ashley (Justin) Hoheisel, Briana (Michael Walin) Zeinstra, Michaela (fiancé Holden Surat) Zeinstra, Jory (Abbegail Lee) Wagner, and Jena Wagner; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ayden, Colin, Stella, Ashlyn, Lauryn, Reece, Sophia, Parker, Kolton, Lincoln, Everly, and Grayson; her siblings, Wylma (John) VanDyke of Washington and Warren (Mary) Lubben of Washington; her brothers-in-law, Don Schnyders of Arizona and Jim (Geraldine) Haraldson of Luverne, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Linda Rickard of Grand Island Nebraska, Marian Rupp of Pipestone, and Luella Haraldson of Jasper; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving friends and family members.
