Edward William Eikmeier, age 88, was born on February 4, 1936, in Pipestone, Minnesota, to Melvin and Lois Eikmeier. Growing up, Edward attended Pipestone Area High School, graduating in 1955. Throughout his high school years, he was active in 4-H and was on the football team. Edward was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. In 1954, he enlisted in the National Guard, serving until 1962 when he was honorably discharged. On September 2, 1956, Edward was united in marriage to Lois Brink in Holland, Minnesota. This union was blessed with three daughters, Cynthia, Tamara and Jane. Lois and Edward later divorced in 1981.
Throughout his life, Edward lived in various locations, including Pipestone, Minnesota; Wheaton, Colorado; Thorton, Colorado; and he finally settled down in Fort Morgan, Colorado, with his life partner, Wuanita Carpenter. Edward had many hobbies that kept him busy. He enjoyed being outdoors, he could always be found gardening, working on his lawn or camping. He was an avid woodworker and was fond of bowling in his younger years. Edward was a proud, life time member of the Salem Church. Edward passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Fort Morgan Hospital in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
Edward will be lovingly remembered by his life partner, Wuanita Carpenter of Fort Morgan, Colorado; children, Cynthia (Jerry) Steiner of Fulda, Minnesota. Tamara (Rick) Powell of Brandon, South Dakota, and Jane (Steve) Tiedeman of Woodstock, Minnesota; one grandchild, Cody (Heather) Powell; and one great-grandchild, Hadley Powell.
He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Lois (Smith) Eikmeier; sisters, Pearl Eikmeier, Doris (Stuart) Frerk, Lila (Charles) Delay; and nieces, Suzanne Ricottilli and Lisa Frerk.
