EDWIN PAUL EWALD was born on January 4, 1936 to Edward and Ardell Emma (Judish) Ewald in Ortonville, Minnesota. He attended Browns Valley Elementary and High School. Following his education he helped a local farmer on a hog farm. He also worked at a salvage yard, drove semi-truck, and worked at the poultry plant in Marshall, Minnesota as well. He was united in marriage to Nyla Buchert on October 13, 1984. Throughout their marriage the two enjoyed taking walks together. Through the years Edwin enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and could most times be found at a table working on one. He became a resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton, Minnesota until the time of its closing in May of 2019. On May 31, 2019 he became a resident of Parkview Senior Living in Belview, Minnesota where he had been residing until the time of his passing. He died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the Redwood Falls, Minnesota Hospital at the age of 84 years and 19 days.
Edwin enjoyed old cars. Taking trips with Nyla, fishing, ice cream, and the occasional sweet treat. He had a good kind heart and a strong faith in the Lord. While living in Ruthton, he very rarely missed a worship service.
He is survived by brothers, Glen Eward and Rodey Ewald; and two sisters, Joice, and Karen; his ex-wife, Nyla Buchert of Pipestone, Minnesota and her daughters, Charlotte Johnson and Maria (Shawn) Johnson; and Nyla's son, Kelly (Jonie) Van Lerberghe; ten step-grandchildren; six great-step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one ex-son-in-law, Arlan Johnson, who was like a son to Edwin. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Vivian; and one brother, Benjie “Ben” Ewald.
Blessed be his memory!
