Eibert's funeral service has been moved to Saturday, November 19, at 10:00 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pipestone. If you could please make an effort to contact any friends or family that you know were planning on attending so that as many people can be made aware as possible the family would appreciate it.
EIBERT MIERSMA was born to Charles and Nettie (Lokhorst) Miersma on March 6, 1920 on the family farm in Fountain Prairie Township near Holland, Minnesota where he was raised and attended country school. Upon completion of his education, he helped on the family farm. On January 15, 1947, he was united in marriage to Helen Blom at the Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in Fountain Prairie Township until their retirement in 1990. At that time, they moved into Pipestone, Minnesota; but Eibert continued to help on the farm. In August of 2009, Helen preceded Eibert in death and he continued to live in Pipestone. In July of 2014, he moved into Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, Minnesota where he resided until he passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the age of 96 years, eight months, and nine days.
Eibert was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pipestone. He served on several church boards and on the school board. He loved to farm and spent his time working on the farm. He was an avid reader, and he enjoyed watching television. He enjoyed spending time with family by visiting or playing games. He had a gentle soul with a content smile. He especially liked to feed the birds and squirrels. Eibert faithfully trained his family in the Christian faith, and then witnessed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren following that faith as well.
He is lovingly remembered by his three children, ten grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
