Eleanor L. Loger

ELANOR LAURA LOGER was born to Herman and Laura (Koch) Hamann on February 24, 1923 on a farm in Spring Water Township of Rock County, Minnesota where she was raised and attended school. She was baptized and confirmed on June 29, 1941 at St. John Lutheran in Luverne, Minnesota. Upon completion of her education, she helped on the farm. After her father died in 1955, Eleanor and her mother moved into Luverne. At that time, Eleanor began working at the bakery. On February 24, 1963, she was united in marriage to Virgil Loger at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Following their marriage, they lived in Luverne and she continued to work at the bakery. Later she became employed at the cafeteria in the Luverne school system. On June 12, 1999, Virgil preceded her in death. Following his death Eleanor continued to reside at their home. On Saturday, August 20, 2011, Eleanor died at her home at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 26 days.

Eleanor was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne where she was active in the church circle, women’s society and Wednesday morning bible studies. She also enjoyed quilting at the church. She loved sewing, spending time in her flower garden, dancing and going on trips with the Prime Timers Club, puzzles, and time spent with her family.

She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Marvin Hamann and his wife Lucille of Luverne, and her sister, Helen Norris of Mason City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Elaine Hamann of Luverne; brother-in-law, Lawrence Loger and his wife Margaret of Adrian, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; parents; two brothers, Merle and Albert Hamann; one sister, Florence Kennedy; and two half-brothers, Leonard and Richard Hagen.
