Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Nath

April 18, 1941 — May 21, 2014

ELIZABETH JEAN NATH was born to Harry and Mae (Wilson) Brockberg on April 18, 1941, along with her twin brother Bob, at the Ashton Memorial Hospital in Pipestone, Minnesota. That same day, she was baptized at the hospital. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone. She graduated from Pipestone High School in 1959. On June 2, 1963, she married Paul Nath at St. Paul Lutheran. Following their marriage, they lived in Luverne, Hardwick, and in 1976 they moved to Cottonwood, Minnesota. While living in Cottonwood, Betty worked at MidContinent from 1978 to l986. At that time, she completed her Home Health and Nurse’s Assistant certification and cared for two ladies in Cottonwood. After her divorce in 1988, she moved to Walker, Minnesota, Williston, North Dakota, Seattle, Washington then in 1990, moved to Alaska. She loved living in Alaska and she loved her job working for Princess Tours at the Denali Princess Lodge and the Kenai Princess Lodge. Her health problems brought her back to Marshall, Minnesota in 1997, and she worked at Avera Marshall Hospital in housekeeping and laundry until retirement on November 2, 2006. She moved back to Cottonwood and lived there until her brief, but loving stay at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall where she died on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the age of 73 years, one month and three days.

Betty was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota. She enjoyed spending her time doing Find a Word puzzles, reading, playing Solitaire, and latch hooking. She especially enjoyed attending her children’s and her grandchildren’s sporting events, band concerts, and choir concerts. When she received her first computer in December, 2011, her world changed, and she loved the challenge of learning how to use the computer and exploring the internet.

She is lovingly remembered by her three sons, Neil (Sandy) of Marshall, Minnesota, Dan (Colleen) of Luverne, Minnesota, and Doug (Shellie) of Dresden, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Gaile) Brockberg of Pipestone, Minnesota; one sister, Joyce (Jim) Fisher of Winona, Minnesota; and her very special friends, Bill (Wendy) Winkelman, Gary (Deb) Bultinck, and Dana Bultinck. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, Bob; her sister, Joan; and special friend, Frank Bultinck.
