Emma Dora Busse…
was born on July 26, 1911 to Henry and Anna (Hagen) Herrmann in Scott County, Iowa. As a small child she moved with her family to a farm in Springwater Township near Luverne, Minnesota. Emma attended Country School through the eighth grade. As a young woman, she earned her living cleaning homes for area families and babysitting. On December 9, 1930, Emma was united in marriage to Edward Busse at the St. John Lutheran Church parsonage in Luverne. The couple made their home on a farm in Beaver Creek Township near Beaver Creek, Minnesota until 1937 when they then moved to town. Emma was a homemaker for her family and also continued to stay busy cleaning homes and doing childcare for neighboring families throughout the years. She never formally retired, choosing instead to remain active and help out where she needed. Edward preceded her in death in 1971. Emma continued to reside in Beaver Creek until 2009 when she moved to Bethany Meadows in Brandon, South Dakota. In May, she transitioned to Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage where she passed away with her family by her side Friday, June 24, 2011 at the age of 99 years, 10 months, and 29 days.
Emma was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing card games, especially solitaire and putting puzzles together. She was talented with handiwork, including cross-stitching, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. She loved to be outdoors and enjoyed walking and hiking.
She is survived by her two children, Myron Busse and his wife Audrey of Canby, Minnesota, and Kenneth Busse and his wife Janice of Luverne; five grandchildren, Kevin (Deb) Busse, Andrea (Gene) Klein, Tamera Czerwin, Teresa (Steve) Hady, and Stacie (Jim) Remme; 11 great-grandchildren, Collin, Jillanne and Katelyn Busse, Kyle and Keira Klein, Amanda and Enya Czerwin, Lynnsey, Kennedy and Hunter Hady, and Hailey Remme; two great-great grandchildren, Logan and Emma Desmet; and a sister, Esther Fodness of Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; and her siblings, Edward Hermann, Viola McCurdy, Mable Bendt, Ralph Herrmann, and Vera Herrmann.
