ESTHER ALICE TRACY was born February 10, 1922 at the family farm in Trosky Village, Minnesota. A typical winter storm prevented the doctor from arriving on time and therefore it was into her father's waiting arms that she arrived. Esther received her education in the Pipestone school system.
On December 14, 1941 Esther and Arvid were united in marriage in Adrian, Minnesota.
Arvid was in the Army Medical Corp, which allowed them to live in several locations. In Little Rock, Arkansas Esther worked at a dress factory and when they moved to Brigham, Utah, she worked in a cannery, peeling tomatoes for 10 cents per dish. When Arvid was discharged from the service, the couple settled back in Pipestone, Minnesota where Esther worked as a nurse aide in the Pipestone County Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 1986.
Esther was a long-time member of the First Lutheran Church where she participated in the Ladies' Circle and frequently contributed food for church events. In her later years, she and her neighborhood friends engaged in playing games, Rummikub being a favorite. In October of 2013, Esther moved into the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she lived until her passing on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the age of 91 years.
Esther is survived by her children: Catherine (Thomas) Anderl of New Hope, Minnesota, Robert (Brenda) Tracy of Woodbury, Minnesota and Sarah Fjellanger of Lakeville, Minnesota and John (Carol) Fjellanger of Erie, Colorado, who considered Esther their 'other mother'; one brother Alvin Albrecht of Rapid City, South Dakota; son-in-law Chuck Ramsey of Mesa, Arizona; nieces: Elizabeth, Susan, and Sharon; nephews: Steven and Jimmy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arvid, daughter Barbara Ramsey, infant son, and siblings: Delores and Darrell, and parents Tom and Irene Albrecht.
Hartquist Funeral Home in Pipestone is in charge of arrangements for Esther.
