ESTHER LUELLA BRUEMMER was born to Robert and Martha (Dally) Smith on April 10, 1928 in Lake Wilson, Minnesota where she was raised and received her education. On June 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to Myrl Bruemmer at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived on various farms near Pipestone. In 1952, they moved to a farm north of Elkton, South Dakota. During their years in farming, they lived on farms in all four directions from Elkton. In 2005, they retired from farming and moved into Elkton. On November 2, 2013, Myrl preceded her in death. After his death, she continued to live with her daughter, Rita. In September, 2018, she became a resident at United Living Community in Brookings, South Dakota where she died on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the age of 91 years, two months and 20 days.
Esther was an avid reader and did crossword puzzles. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her two children, Rita Bruemmer of Elkton, South Dakota, and Alan Bruemmer and his wife Linda of Colman, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Alana Anderson and Wendy Bruemmer; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Logan and Carter Schrad and Aden Nelson; one sister, Delilah Baack of Yuma, Arizona; and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Myrl Bruemmer; her parents; one brother, Eldon Smith; and two sisters, Doris Smith and Audrey Martensen.
