Eva Williamson

Eva Carol (Beck) Williamson was born to Christian and Ane (Madsen) Beck on June 16, 1917, on her grandparents’ farm, a little southwest of Ruthton, Minnesota. Eva’s sister, Edna, was born there two years later. They were raised in the Presbyterian faith. When Eva was six years old, the family moved to Illinois, but within a few years, the family moved back to Ruthton to work the family farm. Eva attended Country School District 71, which was located on the south side of Highway 23. When Eva turned 13, the family moved to Pipestone.
  While working at Armour & Co., Eva met her future husband, Ingwald Williamson. They were united in marriage on September 30, 1938, in Flandreau, South Dakota. Eva and Ing lived in Pipestone and raised four children. In addition to being a homemaker, Eva helped Ing in his refrigeration and repair business by taking and dispatching service calls and managing the books. After Ing’s passing in 2000, Eva remained in Pipestone and in 2010, she moved to the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she died on Friday, January 4, 2019, at the age of 101 years, six months, and 19 days.
  Eva was known for many things – her cooking, baking, her laugh, her love of animals, and all forms of handiwork – but she was particularly known for her beautiful knitted doilies and crocheted wool afghans. She enjoyed oil painting, embroidery, tatting and hardanger, and loved to shower her family and friends with her handmade gifts that were truly made from her heart. 
  Eva was active in the community and her church. She fixed hair for the residents of the Good Samaritan Home, was active in Ashton Care Auxiliary, helped with the local election board, served as a Deacon for the First Presbyterian Church, and knitted and gave away numerous prayer shawls.
  She is lovingly remembered by her four children, James (special friend, Sally Gwin) of Northfield, Minnesota, Gregory (Lila) Williamson of Pipestone, Minnesota, Douglas (special friend, Nancy Finzen) Williamson of Holland, Minnesota, and Cathy (Brian) Rude of St. Anthony Village, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ingwald; and her sister, Edna Dillon.
