November 13, 1917 — August 10, 2015

EVELYN CECELIA FEIT was born November 13, 1917 to John and Barbara (Gilfoy) Bergin in rural Springwater Township, Rock County, Minnesota. She attended school at St. Mary’s Academy in Dell Rapids, South Dakota for three years and graduated from Sherman High School in Sherman, South Dakota. She furthered her education at Mankato State Teacher’s College in Mankato, Minnesota. After graduation Eveyln returned home and began her teaching career in Rock County, Minnesota. Throughout the years, she taught school in both Rock and Pipestone Counties. Evelyn married Eugene Feit on June 14, 1939 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. The couple made their home in rural Rushmore, Minnesota where they farmed for 50 years. In 1977 they began wintering in Mesa, Arizona. Upon retirement in 1987, the couple moved to Luverne, Minnesota. Eugene preceded her in death in 2000. Evelyn continued to reside in Luverne during the summer months and winter in Arizona until this past year, when she wintered in Minnesota for the first time in over 35 years.

On Monday, August 10, 2015 Evelyn died peacefully at the Sanford Luverne Hospital at the age of 97 years, 8 months and 27 days.

She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Wilmont, holding offices in the WCCW. She was also a member of the LCCW-Luverne, Senior Dining, and the Nobles County Extension Club. Evelyn enjoyed volunteering in the community. She was active in the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), especially at Sanford Hospital and the Hinkley House, both in Luverne.
