Evonne Eloweese Fuhrmann was born October 8, 1926 to Harald and Eva (Helland) Andresen on the family farm east of Ruthton, Minnesota. She was baptized and later confirmed at Ellsborough Lutheran Church near Ruthton. She graduated from Ruthton High School in 1944. On October 29, 1947 Evonne married Edward Fuhrmann at Ellsborough Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with three daughters and 41 years of life together. She started her teaching career in Murray County country schools in 1945. From there she went on to earn her four-year degree from Mankato College, and taught in Lynd and Russell, Minnesota public schools until her retirement in 1992, dedicating a total of 47 years to educating children. After living in Balaton and on a farm near Russell, she and Edward moved into Russell in 1972. Following his death in 1989, she continued to live in their home until just the past summer when she moved to Balaton Lakeview Housing. This past summer she also celebrated her 70th high school class reunion with four of her classmates. On All Saints Day, November 1, 2014 Evonne died at Tyler Healthcare Center and joined the saints triumphant at the age of 88. The family is very thankful to God for giving them such a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Evonne was a member of Grace First Parish in Russell, Minnesota where she was a member of Mary Circle and had served as church organist. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and volunteered at the Thrift Store in Marshall. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, collecting glassware, teaching music, and Daniel O’Donnell concerts. She and her best friend, Jeanette Williams, had many good times on bus tours. She loved spending time with family, and any day spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was a very good day!
Evonne is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Elise and Steve Williams of Russell, MN, and Kristy and Dave Jones of Sioux City, IA; 9 grandchildren: Jeremy (Jessica) Williams, Kim (Junior) Moseng, Nathan (Kayla) Williams, Anthony (Kristin) Jones, Nick (Sara) Jones, Jordan Jones, Christopher (Stacia) Quiring, Tom (Cindy) Quiring, and Curt Quiring; 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a great-great-granddaughter; son-in-law, Harold Quiring; and many other relatives and friends.
