Frank Earl Scott was born on June 12, 1956 to Marion, Sr. and Ann (Gregory) Scott in Lafayette, Indiana. The family moved often during Frank’s youth, including throughout Indiana, California and mostly Missouri. He attended school through the tenth grade. Following school, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. While he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Frank woke up blind and paralyzed. He was later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Following his honorable discharge, Frank returned home. On October 11, 1980, he married the love of his life, Debbie Deason. The couple was blessed with two daughters and later divorced. In 2014, Frank moved to Minnesota to be closer to his daughters. He became a resident at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Minnesota in 2017. On Sunday, July 16, 2023, Frank died peacefully at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 67 years and five days.
Frank’s spirit will be carried forward in so many ways through so many people. “Can I make a suggestion?” was a phrase that he loved to interject, especially in his daughter’s home remodeling project. He enjoyed fishing and eating. He loved to find a good Chinese buffet and often attended the weekly all you can eat steak buffets while in Missouri.
Frank was ornery and stubborn at times, but very passionate about his concern for others, especially his family. He loved his children and grandchildren. He lived his life by his marine corps motto, “Semper Fi!”, which means always faithful/loyal. This motto very much applied to his family and friends.
He is lovingly survived by his two daughters, Sarah Scott of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Cynthia “Cindy” Husman (partner, Scott Hunter) of Pipestone; six grandchildren, Samantha Floer, Charlotte Floer, Lucy Harter, Michael Harter, Belle Harter, and Billy Frank Harter; six siblings, Bonnie Hitzemann of Indiana, Fred Scott of Missouri, Michael Sercy of Indiana, Ronnie Hall of Tennessee, Carol Reed-Talbert of Indiana, and Rita Scott of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Viola DeWeese.
