FRED THOMAS ROBISON was born on May 27, 1921 to Thomas and Nancy (DeShields) Robison in Okema, Oklahoma. He attended school in Sharon, Oklahoma. Following his education, Fred moved to Colorado and took a job picking peaches. He then moved to California where he worked at a sheet metal shop. Fred served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He was based in England and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal. Upon his discharge, Fred returned to California and then moved to Beaver Creek, Minnesota. At this time, Fred opened Robison Sheet Metal Works. On April 23, 1943 Fred was united in marriage to Edna Eads in Sheldon, Iowa. The couple made their home in Beaver Creek. Fred later earned his Master Plumber certification and expanded into the plumbing business. In 1966 he moved to Pierre, South Dakota and became a partner in Schmitt’s Heating & Plumbing. Edna preceded him in death in April of 1974. On August 24, 1987 Fred was united in marriage to Ruby Worrell in Reno, Nevada. He later returned to Sharon, Oklahoma where the couple resided until Ruby’s death in 2003. In 2004, Fred moved to Garden City, Kansas.
On Friday, November 20, 2015 Fred died peacefully at the Kansas Soldier’s Home in Fort Dodge, Kansas at the age of 94 years, five months and 24 days.
Fred was a member of South Persimmon Baptist Church in Sharon. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Pierre. Fred enjoyed building anything, hunting, fishing, bowling, horseshoes and playing cards.
He is lovingly survived by his son, Charles (Mary Ann) Robison of Garden City; daughter-in-law, Sandra Robison of Big Stone, South Dakota; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna; second wife, Ruby; son, John; sister, Leecy Keltch; and five brothers, Earl, Leonard, Scott, Clifford and Russell Robison.
