GENEROSE MARIE (WIECK) BUSH was born on March 23, 1930, near Magnolia, Minnesota, at the Lester Wieck farm home, now owned by her son Gary Bush. She was the first child of Lester and Edna (Vogt) Wieck. She attended school in Magnolia and was a member of the Magnolia Methodist Church until her marriage to LeRoy Bush on December 23, 1947, at the Luverne Methodist parsonage in Luverne, Minnesota. LeRoy and Generose rented the farm where LeRoy was born, until they bought it from the Louie Bush Estate around 1970. LeRoy and Generose raised five children. Generose was a stay-at-home mom until 1964 when she started working at Campbell's Soup in Worthington. In 1967, she worked at the Tastee Freeze in Luverne for a few years. She was an excellent caregiver to LeRoy for a number of years when he became ill before passing away on October 5, 2004. Generose moved to the Oaks in 2014. It was a difficult adjustment to leave the farm, and she missed "home" the rest of her life. In 2015, she moved to Poplar Creek, where she received excellent care. In March, 2019, Generose moved to Parkview Manor, in Ellsworth, Minnesota. On Thursday, October 22, 2020, Generose went to be with her Lord at the age of 90 years, 6 months, and 29 days.
In her free time, Generose loved to work in her beautiful flower garden and had quite a time keeping her cats out of the garden. She also enjoyed reading, until macular degeneration took most of her sight. For a number of years LeRoy, Generose and family performed for various functions in the area. They loved their country music. LeRoy played guitar with Generose on piano, Gary on guitar, and LeRoy and the kids singing. In later years, LeRoy and Gen performed together, even once flying to Nashville for a studio recording by their grandson, Jason, shortly before LeRoy became ill. Generose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Generose is survived by her children, Margaret Ann (Gerald) Saetveit, Gary (Rita) Bush, Susan (Dave) Michalke, Alan (Mary Beth) Bush, and Michael (Colleen) Bush; grandchildren, Ryan (Stacey), Jason, Christopher (Jenny), and Nathan (Deb) Saetveit, Derek (Kristi) Bush, Stacie (Bart) Wuebben, Justin (Katherine) Bush, Amy (Wade) Sagehorn, Kory (Cassie) and Jamey (Sarah) Michalke, Matthew and Megan Bush, Brooke (Todd) Fisher, and Brandon, Kyle and Kayla Bush; 21 great grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn Bruhn, Beverly (Art) Fleseland, and Marilyn Sudenga; and brother, Verlyn (Alma) Wieck. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Bush; parents; and an infant brother, Roger Wieck.
