Gerry William Rudebusch was born on August 15, 1949 to Gerhard and Evelyn (Prosch) Rudebusch in Hendricks, Minnesota. He attended Lake Benton Public school from kindergarten through his high school graduation in 1968. He then attended Pipestone Vocational/Technical school, obtaining degrees in agricultural banking and carpentry. In 1970, Gerry enlisted in the Army and spent the next twelve years serving around the world, including in Korea and Italy. He was honorably discharged in 1982 and returned to Lake Benton. He drove truck, tried his hand at farming, and worked at the co-op downtown. In 1987, while out on a delivery, Gerry saw a beautiful, young Anna Carstens checking the mail and he immediately knew he needed to find out more about her. The couple dated for a year before getting married October 8, 1988. Soon after, Gerry accepted a position with Twin City Fan and Blower in Brookings, a job he would continue for the next 29 years. Gerry and Anna welcomed and lovingly raised their two children, Rachel and Jeffrey. In the early morning on October 23, 2023, Gerry passed away at the age of 74 years, 2 months, and 8 days.
Gerry is remembered by his family as a very hard working, active man. He rarely sat down and was always working on his next project. From repairing old furniture, to building new toys and furniture, Gerry loved tinkering. He custom made a few vehicles and enjoyed repairing small engines. He was a good, loving father and husband who cared well for his family and will be deeply missed.
Gerry is survived by his wife, who was lovingly at his side for their 35 years together, Anna Rudebusch of Lake Benton; children, Rachel Rudebusch of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Jeffrey Rudebusch of Lake Benton; grandson, Alex Rudebusch; siblings, Roger Rudebusch of Lake Benton, and Roy (Dixie) Rudebusch of Reno, Nevada; and nephews William Rudebusch and Gabriel Rudebusch. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerhard and Evelyn Rudebusch.
