Gettie P. Lear

October 15, 1913 — July 22, 2013

GETTIE PEARL LEAR was born on October 15, 1913 in Pittsburg, Missouri. She was the daughter of Edward and Elvira (Luttrell) Floyd and was one of ten children. On October 19, 1929 in Hermitage, Missouri, Gettie married Royal Marshall Lear and to this union ten children were born. Gettie and Royal lived in many places across the country and their first two children Stanley and Lionel were born in Missouri. They later moved to Ihlen, Minnesota where six children were born: Ramona, Royal Jr., Shirley, Audrey, Marshall, and Bettie. Gettie and Royal then moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and gave birth to their ninth child, Barbra. Later, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where they gave birth to their tenth child, Mary Lou.

Gettie worked many years in the clothes cleaning business in Utah. Gettie was always very proud to talk about her exceptional, intelligent and beautiful children and grandchildren. Her son Lionel always said, 'If you want a good recommendation, just call my MOTHER.' Gettie always considered her children's spouses as if they were her own children.
