Glenda A. Groen

GLENDA ANN GROEN was born on November 30, 1952 to Roman and Anita (Boots) Reker in Adrian, MN. She was raised on the farm in rural Adrian and received her education in town, graduating from Adrian High School in 1971. She then attended Stewart's cosmetology school in Sioux Falls, SD, graduating in 1973. On January 31, 1976, Glenda was united in marriage to Dean Groen at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. The couple then made their home in Luverne, MN. Glenda became employed at Les' Food Land and then later at Tony's Food Land. In 1985, she began her own daycare which she continued until her health forced her to retire in May 2013. On Wednesday, September 18, 2013 Glenda died peacefully surrounded by her family at Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 60 years, nine months and 18 days.

Glenda was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church where she was active as a liturgy artisan. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing cards, including Skip-Bo and Hand & Foot, being outside, walking, gardening, caring for the children she watched over and spending time with her pride and joy, Alika.

Glenda is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dean; two children, Dustin (Mesa) of Harrisburg, SD, and Amanda Groen of Sioux Falls; granddaughter, Alika; mother, Anita Reker of Adrian; five siblings, Charlotte (Duane) Anderson of Milaca, MN, Lyle 'Rock' (Maggie) Reker of Sherburn, MN, Gary Reker of Adrian, Randy (Natalie) Reker of Adrian, Theresa (Randy) Holinka of Fulda, MN; two sisters-in-law, Nyla Reker of Sioux Falls and Agnes Maassen of Valley Springs, SD; brother-in-law, Curt ((Marilyn) Groen of Dell Rapids, SD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Roman Reker; brother, Dale Reker; and brother-in-law, John Maassen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage or St. Catherine's Catholic Church Landscaping Fund.
