Gloria June Juhl was born July 5, 1935 to George and Anna (Boldt) Albers in Luverne, Minnesota. In 1942 she moved with her parents to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where her parents both worked in defense plants during the second World War. In 1945 they returned to Luverne. Gloria graduated from Luverne High School in 1953. After graduation she worked for Dr. G. N. Getman for six years. On August 19, 1956 she was married to Charles Juhl at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. They moved to the Juhl family farm where they would reside for the next 45 years. They were third generation farmers on the land. During the time they lived on the farm, Gloria was employed by the State of Minnesota for 27 years as a Travel Counselor at the Beaver Creek Travel Information Center before retiring in 2004. Charles and Gloria moved to Luverne in 2001 and in 2019, Gloria moved to Poplar Creek Estates. On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, Gloria died peacefully at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 18 days.
Gloria was a member of Grace Lutheran church in Luverne and sang in the choir. She enjoyed knitting, and growing hundreds of Gladiolas and sharing them with others.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Charles Juhl of Luverne; three children, Lori (Hal) Schmidt of Luverne, Paul Juhl of Harrisburg, South Dakota, and John (Tammy) Juhl of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Moriah (Tobias) Meyer, Akela (Josiah) Erickson, Carl (Emily) Juhl, Hannah (Joe) Bourque, and Lydia Juhl; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Miriam, Chris, and Carson. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna Albers; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean (Norman) Ahrendt, and Sarah Juhl.
