Gordon Kjergaard Jensen was born March 6, 1933 to Erling K. and Louise (Stefansen) Jensen at Tyler, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler. He graduated from Tyler High School in 1951. On October 16, 1954 Gordon married Mary J. Nelson at Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco, Minnesota. He worked for several farmers and served in the military. In 1963 he and Mary bought their own farm where they raised their two sons, Garth and Kenneth. They had dairy cows and grain farming for many years. He learned to enjoy the many friends he made after becoming a resident at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler. It was there on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 that Gordon died less than three weeks before his 83rd birthday.
Gordon was a lifelong member of Danebod Lutheran Church where over the years he served on many committees and the church council. He enjoyed his life work of farming, as well as reading and Bible study. He especially enjoyed time spent with family.
Gordon was much loved and will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Mary; his sons, Garth (Sharon) Jensen of Tyler, Minnesota and Kenny (Diana) Jensen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; five grandchildren: Nick (Marie) Jensen, Kala (Grant) Klinsing, Shana Jensen (Karl Saxowsky), Terry Johnson, and Adrian Johnson; four great-grandchildren: Landon, Luke, and Mason Johnson, and Kyan Klinsing; two sisters: Garnet (Arlyn) Petersen of Lake Benton, Minnesota, and Ilona (Robert) Henriksen of Armstrong, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends whom he cherished. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Delmar and Vyles.
Blessed be his memory.
