Harold Huemoller

HAROLD HUEMOLLER was born to John and Margaret (Lettow) Huemoller on February 19, 1914 in Airlie, Minnesota where he was raised. He attended school in Pipestone until the 8th grade when he quit his schooling to help his father on the farm in Airlie. On June 25, 1939, he was united in marriage to Norma Ferguson in Flandreau, South Dakota. Following their marriage, they made their home in Pipestone, Minnesota where he worked for his brother Waldo at his filling station. In 1941, they moved to Burbank, California and Harold became employed at Lockheed Aviation for five years. When they moved back to Pipestone in 1946, he began working for International Harvester. In the late 1950s, he became employed at Stueven Implement. He purchased the Sinclair Gas Station in Pipestone in the 1960s. He owned and operated this station until his retirement. On November 1, 1997, Norma preceded him in death. After her death, he continued to live in their home until Saturday, April 25, 2015 when he was admitted to the Pipestone County Hospice House. He died there on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the age of 101 years, two months and seven days.

Harold was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone. For many years, he was a member of the Engine Company of the Pipestone Fire Department where he served as both the Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Chief. He loved to play cards, especially cribbage. He enjoyed fishing trips, hunting, bowling and traveling with his wife, family and friends.

He is lovingly remembered by his two sisters, Lois Bostic of Delano, Minnesota and Delores Lind of Mound, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; his parents; and his brother, Waldo.
