Hazel Marietta (Bennett) Bundy was born October 17, 1919 in Arlington, SD to Harry and Pearl Elizabeth (Jones) Bennett. She was baptized at the Church of Christ in Arlington, SD and a member of the Congregational Church in Garvin, MN. She worked at Douglas Air Craft in Chicago, IL during WWII. She moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1943 and worked as a cook at the Sioux Falls Air Base and then moved to Spirit Lake, IA in 1946 and worked as a cook at The New Inn. Most of her life while working outside the home she was a cook or waitress.

Hazel (Mom) loved to travel, go on mystery trips and would always comment on how much beauty we have in our world. She loved the smell of a soft spring rain; her flowers in bloom in the summer; the fall colors with birds gathering and fields ready to harvest; in the winter cuddling up in a blanket reading her books. Her greatest rewards in life were her family whom she loved very much. She will be missed dearly and as God calls us home one by one the chain begins to link again, she will be holding hands and hugging our loved ones already in heaven and this will be our comfort.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Pearl Bennett; brothers Russell, Vance & Stanley Bennett, sisters Audrey Bye and Betty Mattern; Grandsons – Russell Somers, James Johnson and Great-Grandson – Travis Franek.
