Helen Bruhn

Helen Frances Bruhn was born to Henry M. and Nettie J. (Topping) Fink in Kankakee, Illinois on November 7, 1909. At an early age she moved with her parents to Woodbury County, Iowa where she attended country school.
In March of 1920, her family moved to Lake Benton, Minnesota where she continued her education at rural School District #2 in Lake Benton Township. After her graduation from Lake Benton High School in 1926, she attended the Lake Benton Teachers Training, graduating in 1928. Following her education, she taught in rural schools in Lincoln County.

On April 13, 1941, she was united in marriage to John Bruhn in St. James, Minnesota. Following their marriage they farmed in the Lake Benton area.
After their retirement in 1969, they moved to Pipestone. In May, 1984 they returned to Lake Benton. John preceded her in death on May 7, 1989. After his death, she continued to reside in Lake Benton until she moved to Ashton Care Center in Pipestone where she resided until it closed in 2010 at which time she moved to Sunrise Manor in Tyler, Minnesota. Helen died there on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the age of 106 years.
Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake Benton and
the U.M.W. She taught Sunday school and was the church pianist and organist for many years. She was also a member of the Lincoln County Extension Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafts, watercolor painting, and flower gardening and reading.
She is survived by nieces, Sharon, Marlys, Jane, Betty Ann, nephews Thomas and James, and Dennis Hansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Edward, Lloyd, and Raymond Fink, sister in laws, Evelyn and Mildred Fink, nephews Roger and Paul Fink.
