Helen E Hinrichs

HELEN ELAINE HINRICHS, was born on June 14, 1925 in St. Paul, MN to Ted and Lena Van Meveren. She was baptized into the Christian faith as an infant. She lived with her grandma, Emma Klindt, in Edgerton for a time and then Wabasso, MN, where she began her education at Wabasso Public School. She then moved to a farm outside of Lucan, MN and later to Pipestone, MN. The oldest of her siblings, she was taught early to work hard, doing chores on the farm and helping to raise her siblings. She graduated from Trosky Public School in 1944 and began working at Luksik Drug in Pipestone, a position she held for the next 18 years. When Luksik sold to Snyders Drug, Helen continued working as a Pharmacy Clerk until the age of 70. In her earlier years, she also worked at the Clothes Closet, and the Toy Factory in Pipestone. While working at Luksik Drug, she met Alfred Hinrichs at church. The couple was united in marriage on December 29, 1967 at St. Paul Lutheran Church and made their home together in Pipestone. On July 30, 2010, Helen lost her husband Alfred. She continued living in her home until 2021 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. On December 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, Helen joined her husband Alfred in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 97 years, 6 months.

Helen most enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing her love for Christ. She cherished time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. In her younger years, Alfred and Helen had many rummages. They also enjoyed time at a lake cabin where Helen read while Alfred fished. Later in life she continued to enjoy reading, walking and watching the Twins play baseball.

Helen is survived by her children, Edward Burch of Philadelphia, PA, Lenard Burch of Marshall, MN, and Elaine (Elroy) Ulik of Pipestone; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Kenneth Van Meveren of Mercedes, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; parents, Ted and Lena Van Meveren; siblings, Dale and Delores; granddaughter, Bonnie (Uilk) Bosma; great-grandsons, Nathan Westfield and Winston Uilk.
