HELEN ELDORA KRUGER was born to Peter and Inga (Lee) Tobiason on August 21, 1923 on a farm near Kenneth, Minnesota. She attended country school in District 55 in Battle Plain Township and later graduated from Luverne High School in Luverne, Minnesota. Following her schooling, she remained living and helping on the family farm. On April 18, 1945, Helen was united in marriage to Alvin L. Kruger at First Baptist Church in Luverne. The couple then lived near Jasper, Minnesota, Beaver Creek, Minnesota, Sibley, Iowa and Kenneth, Minnesota, where Helen helped on the farm and raised their children. While raising her family, Helen worked at the Blue Mound Inn and at the Magnolia Steak House. In 1983, they moved to Magnolia, Minnesota. Alvin preceded her in death in 1995. After his death, Helen continued to live in Magnolia until 1999, when she then moved to Luverne. In April 2014, Helen became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne, where on Friday, January 18, 2019 she died peacefully at the age of 95 years, four months and 27 days.
Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Luverne. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Luverne Senior Focus and the Hardwick Service Men’s Mothers Club. Helen’s goal in life was to be a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She loved her farm life, making and having meals with the farm laborers, and entertaining for her family’s special occasions. She enjoyed trips and various hobbies.
She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Janice Flowers of Lake Crystal, Minnesota, Karen and her husband Gene Rosenberg of Luverne, Minnesota, Judy Kruger of Luverne, Minnesota, and Eldon and his wife Becky Kruger of Magnolia, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Deb Kruger of Worthington, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; two sons, Loren Dale Kruger and Dale Lee Kruger; son-in-law, Don Flowers; two brothers, Alfred Tobiason and Gordon Tobiason; and two sisters, Mabel Oldre and Ida Enger.
