Henrietta D. Mulder

HENRIETTA DOROTHY MULDER was born on May 12, 1920, to George and Dena (Raak) Mieras in Orange City, Iowa. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Maurice, Iowa. Henrietta graduated from high school in Maurice, Iowa in 1938. On February 20, 1942, she was united in marriage to Peter J. Mulder at the First Reformed Church in Maurice, Iowa and the couple then made their home in Struble, Iowa. The couple lived various places and was blessed with five children, Darlene, Joan, Jaclynn, Gordon and Edyth. In 1947 the family made their home northeast of Luverne, Minnesota. In 1960, Henrietta went to work with the Blue Mound Turkey Farm, a catering business, which later became the Blue Mound Inn. She traveled many miles for the catering business. During her life Henrietta also baked pies and worked at The Pantry in downtown Luverne. In 2000, Henrietta retired when the Blue Mound Inn closed. Peter preceded her in death on April 19, 2000. On Thursday, July 23, 2015, while residing at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne, Henrietta went to be with her Lord at the age of 95 years, two months and 11 days.

Henrietta was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne. She taught Sunday School and was involved with Ladies Aid. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, and most recently quiltmaking. She was also involved with the Rock County Extension Club.

Henrietta is lovingly remembered by her children, Darlene Prashar and her friend, Paul of Naples, Florida, Joan Unruh and her husband, Elwin of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jaclynn Gertz and her husband, Daryl of Luverne, Gordon Mulder and his wife, Lois of Luverne, and Edyth Rodgers of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter J. Mulder; her parents; a sister, Marjorie; and sons-in-law, Paul Prashar and Dave Rodgers.
