Howard Hagedorn

HOWARD JOHN HAGEDORN was born on August 8, 1920 to William and Ethel (Nicholson)Hagedorn on the family farm in Gray Township, Pipestone County, Minnesota where he was raised and received his education, graduating from Pipestone High School in 1939. Following high school, he continued helping his father farm. Howard was united in marriage to Delores Hanson on December 7, 1944 in Pipestone, Minnesota. Following their marriage, he continued farming on the family farm. He farmed his entire life and was still helping his son, Steve, until this past month when he entered the Avera Heart Hospital on Sunday, November 17, 2013. After being released, he entered the Good Samaritan Society - Mary Jane Brown in Luverne on November 25, 2013 where he died on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 24 days.

Howard enjoyed farming his entire life until this past month due to his health. His family farm was purchased in 1901 and recognized as a Century Farm. For many years, Howard also enjoyed raising Black Angus Cattle until the early 1980's. He enjoyed music and in their younger years, he and Delores loved going to dances. Howard looked forward to going to the local sporting events, especially basketball, for three generations when his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were playing.

Howard is lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Delores of Pipestone, Minnesota; three children: William 'Bill' and his wife Carol Hagedorn of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Honee Lee Longstreet and her husband Bob and Steve Hagedorn, both of Pipestone, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Grace Hagedorn.
