James 'Jim' Darriel Brouillet was born on December 13, 1952, to Darriel and Blanche (Trembley) Brouillet in Pipestone, Minnesota. Jim grew up in Pipestone, graduating from Pipestone High School in 1971. He furthered his education at the Pipestone Vo-Tech College, studying fiberglass lamination and graduating in 1979. On March 27, 1990, Jim was united in marriage to Darlene Reynolds. Darlene passed away shortly after their marriage in 1991.
Jim lived and worked in multiple communities. He spent some time living in Slayton, Minnesota, Lake Benton, Minnesota and settling down again in Pipestone. He worked for many years at the US Marine Bayliner Plant in Pipestone. Jim was also self-employed, working as a lawn care specialist and did snow removal in the winter. He helped many people for years with his work and his love for the outdoors. He also worked as a meat cutter throughout his life. Jim loved spending time with his life partner, Virginia Benton, whom he met in 2008. The couple spent many wonderful years together creating memories and laughing often.
Jim was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone, Minnesota where he was baptized on December 15, 1952 and later confirmed on May 21, 1965. Jim had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and worshiped at home as he battled health issues. Jim loved to go hunting and fishing in his younger years and he spent many hours metal detecting. Jim had a big heart, he donated to many organizations including the March of Dimes, the Veterans of Foreign Affairs, and to the local Ambulance Association and Fireman's Dance. Jim entered the care of the Good Samaritan Communities in Pipestone in July of 2024 where he passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the age of 71 years, nine months and ten days. His kind heart and his willingness to also help those who needed it will be deeply missed.
Jim is survived by his life partner of 16 years, Virginia Benton of Pipestone, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Henry "Hank" Sankey; sister-in-law, Nadine Brouillet; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darriel and Blanche Brouillet; brother, David Brouillet; sisters, Marlo Sankey, Joanne Luehmann, Mary Brey and Jacqueline "Jackie" Jones; and brothers-in-law, Bobbie "Bob" Jones, William Brey and Helmuth Luehmann.
