James “Jim” Petersen (aka Rocky), 62, of Jasper, Minnesota died unexpectedly of natural causes in his home on October 29, 2020.
Jim was born in Sioux Falls, SD on July 16, 1958 to Jud and Dar Petersen. He grew up in Hardwick, MN and graduated from Luverne High School in 1975. After graduating high school he earned a degree in Agriculture from Minnesota West Community and Technical College of Canby. Jim met Lola Wrobleski in 1978 at the Oasis in Pipestone, MN and they were married in 1984. Jim was known as a jack-of-all trades where he spent many years with Bayliner Marine and worked in the construction and roofing industry. Later in life, Jim joined J&B Meats where he retired in 2017.
In his younger years, Jim loved playing pool and was known as pool shark. He was an adventurous man who enjoyed exotic food, roller coasters, and amusement park rides. He loved history and attended many auctions throughout his life. Living by the motto “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” Jim prided himself on being a collector of lost treasures and was a self-proclaimed “dumpster diver.” Jim had enormous charm and a great sense of humor, always ready to crack a joke regardless the situation.
Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife, Lola; boys, Shawn (Sarah), Justin (Michelle), Yonathon (girlfriend, Itzy) and Dana (Cheri); grandkids, Tatin, Claire, BellaDonna and Jax; siblings, Jeff, Jerry and Joni; and other family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Donna Wrobleski and his sister-in-law, Penny Hurley.
