James J. Haubrich (Jimmy, JJ and Jim)...
was born to Lawrence and Alice (Bostic) Haubrich on 5 September 1936 in Pipestone, Minnesota. Pipestone was home during his school age years graduating from Pipestone High School in 1954 where he played football (Number 82) and was awarded the outstanding Lineman Trophy. Upon graduation of High School, he joined the U.S. Army; he did his Basic Training and advance training followed with his first duty assignment overseas to Germany where he met his loving wife in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany. On 17 April 1957, he was united in marriage to Ilse Marie Margaret Arendt in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany. Following their marriage, the Army Life took them to several military duty assignments to Germany (several tours), France, Korea, Indiana, Georgia, Kansas, Colorado, and Texas. He was also a Vietnam Veteran, serving one combat tour. He served proudly and honorably for 30 years in our Army, from the beginning as a PVT; Finance and Accounting Specialist to the top rank of Sergeant Major; Finance Senior Sergeant. One of his many accomplishments in the military was that he had the highest test score Army Wide 'two times' in his Military Occupation Skill, Finance and Accounting. He also earned an Associate of Applied Science in Financial Management-Credit Union. Jim passed away peacefully at home in El Paso, Texas on Thursday, 27 March 2014 at the age of 77.
After retiring from the Army (1984), he worked 19 years at M- Bank/Wells Fargo Bank and was an usher for 20 plus years at the Sheridan Catholic Church at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He was a life member of Post 812 VFW in El Paso. Jim's passion was working with the Animal Rescue Group in El Paso. Jim and Ilse would spend their time together picking up dog food donations from several stores, and then taking the food to several homes that were caring for dogs which were left in the desert's of El Paso. Both Jim and Ilse would go feed their 'desert dogs' every day in the mountain canyons. At one time they had 20 plus dogs they were caring for at their home. He was the best buddy to his dogs, he and Ilse cared for and loved. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, Opa, and Opa pa pa. The love he gave to his family and friends will always be remembered. 'We will see you later Opa; we love you'.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Ilse Marie Margaret Haubrich of Elbing, Germany; his children, Lawrence J. Haubrich and his wife Melissa and their children Christopher and his wife Janice and great-grand kids Tabitha, Noah, and Cason, Samantha and her husband Sean and great-grand kids Braylon and Ella, and Matthew; Debra A. Rauch and her husband Horst and their children Mark and Andre; Tyrone Haubrich and his wife Koy and their children Mart and Top; Mark Haubrich and his wife Kristen and their children Dakota, Jordan, and Taylor; and Michelle Haubrich and her children Ash-Lee, Megan, and Sidney; his siblings, Elaine Hallberg and her husband Curtis, Larry Haubrich and his wife Judy, Gloria Johnson and her husband Randy, and David Steele and his wife Jayme; one sister-in-law, Carol Haubrich; and many other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Alice (Bostic) Haubrich; step-father, James Steele; and brother, Donald (Donnie) Haubrich.
