James Nogaj

James Trink Nogaj was born July 6, 1952 to Clarence and Delores (Parmantier) Nogaj-Schuurman in Marshall, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Milroy, Minnesota. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1970. Following his education he worked various jobs. He moved to St. Paul, Minnesota for a short time in the early 1970s and later made his home in Granite Falls, working in maintenance at Granite Falls Hospital and Nursing Home. In 1990 he moved to Balaton, Minnesota where he worked for local farmers, in construction, and for Marshall Truss factory in Tyler, Minnesota. In 2010 Jim was diagnosed with cancer. Jim entered Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler on March 16, 2011, where he died on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the age of 58 years, 8 months, and 22 days.

Jim enjoyed pop art. He was very gifted with painting, sketching, and sculpture. He also enjoyed music, gardening, hunting, fishing, and cats.

Jim is lovingly remembered by his mother, Delores Schuurman of Balaton, Minnesota; sister Sharill (and Archie) Odenwald of Stillwater, Minnesota; son Travis Hess; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence.
