Janet Rood

Janet Carolyn Rood was born on February 7, 1942 to Jens and Gladys (Miller) Nelsen at their home in Ruthton, Minnesota where she was raised and received her education. She was baptized at Hope Lutheran Church in Ruthton and confirmed there in May, 1956. On February 22, 1958, she was united in marriage to Eugene Rood at Hope Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they resided in Benson, Minnesota. In January, 1959, they moved to Willmar, Minnesota and six months later, they moved back to Ruthton. In 1964, they moved to a farm in Jasper, Minnesota and then in 1966, they went back to Ruthton to stay. On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, Janet died at her home in Ruthton at the age of 77 years, one month and 12 days.

Janet was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton. She enjoyed crocheting, cake baking and decorating, crafting, and bowling. She especially enjoyed attending ball games of children and grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Eugene Rood of Ruthton, Minnesota; two children, Dale and his wife Mary Rood of Moorhead, Minnesota and Lee and his wife Anne Rood of Rush City, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Janice Rood of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Karla, Becca, Robbie, Theresa, Ally, Braeden and Natalie; three great-grandchildren, Eddie, Tommy and Libbie; one brother, Carroll and his wife Eloise Nelsen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and many loving friends and family. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Mark and Carl; her parents; mother and father-in-law, Olaf and Jeanette Rood; one brother, Duane Nelsen; and two sisters, June Zarn and Betty Stensgaard.
