Jean H. Lien

JEAN HARRIET LIEN was born in Litchfield, Minnesota on January 1, 1926 to Oscar and Eva (Walls) Thompson. She was raised on a farm outside of Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1944. On December 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to Donald Lien at the Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. In 1966, the couple moved to Pipestone where Jean worked for L&L Motor Supply for five years and then dedicated the rest of her working days to M&M where she served as a bookkeeper. After her husband passed away on March 29, 1980, Jean continued to reside in Pipestone until 2009, when she moved to Sunrise Village in Jasper, Minnesota. There she remained until suffering a stroke and being transferred to Three Links Care Facility in Northfield, Minnesota. She passed away at the facility on Monday, September 7, 2015 at the age of 89 years, eight months and six days.

Jean was a member of Faith Community Church in Pipestone, Minnesota where she was active in the Women's Circle. She was also involved in the Pipestone County Extension Club. Jean was skilled in cross stitch and enjoyed putting together scrapbooking projects. She expressed her creative side even further by making cards through the art of 'stamping.'

She is lovingly remembered by her niece, Sarah Fjellanger of Lakeville, Minnesota; her nephew, John Fjellanger of Erie, Colorado; her goddaughter, Phyllis Jenkins of Cosmos, Minnesota; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Jean is now united in heaven with her husband, Donald; her parents; her parents-in-law, John and Rose Lien; and her brother and sister-in-law, Orvin and Phyllis Fjellanger.
