Jeanine Phyllis Strobel was born June 17, 1931 to Fred and Elsa (Whitaker) Meyer on a farm near Holland, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, Minnesota. She attended school through the eighth grade. On June 20, 1954 she was united in marriage to Freemond Strobel at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with five children and 58 years of marriage together. Following their marriage, they farmed near Hardwick, Minnesota. In 1960, they moved to their family farm near Jasper, Minnesota. In addition to raising their family and farming, Jeanine enjoyed working at Super 8, Hardees, and Pizza Hut in Pipestone and retired in 1995. The couple moved from the farm to Pipestone in 1988. Freemond died on October 8, 2012 and Jeanine continued to live at their home in Pipestone. On June 21, 2013, she entered the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota. She enjoyed meeting the new people there and the activities at the home. She died there Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the age of 82 years.
Jeanine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota. She was a member of the Holland Hot Hatters (Red Hat Society). She enjoyed square dancing, embroidery, fishing, playing cards, and watching the Minnesota Twins baseball team.
She is lovingly remembered by her five children, Rodney and his wife Lynda Strobel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Douglas Strobel of Luverne, Minnesota, Debra and her husband Gary VandenBosch of Forest City, Iowa, Dianne and her husband Delburt Kracht of Pipestone, Minnesota and Lynn and her husband Joel Christ of Mead, Colorado; 13 grandchildren, Trevor Strobel, Natalie Strobel and Gabriel Sanchez, Justin Strobel ( and fianc Sheila Toering), Kelli Strobel, Kayla and Matt Mehlhoff, Heath and Kristine VandenBosch, Travis and Taran VandenBosch, Jesse Johnson, Mathew Johnson and Irma Olivera, Dylan VandenBosch, Crystal Kracht, Zachary Kracht, Seth and Shawna Kracht; 11 great-grandchildren, Dominik Sanchez, Adrienne, Gage and Brynley Mehlhoff, Brody, Karlee, Kelsey and Brenna VandenBosch, Estrella and Lucero Olivera and Shaeden Kracht. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freemond; parents, Fred and Elsa; brother, Marvin Meyer; sisters, Edna Boettcher and Mildred Odens.
