JEFFREY GEORGE FEHL was born on February 20, 1959 to Morris and Irene (Wichern) Fehl in Tyler, Minnesota. He was baptized at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Jeff grew up on the family farm northwest of Lake Benton and attended school in Lake Benton, graduating in 1977. During his high school years, Jeff (Chunky) very much enjoyed participating in wrestling. After graduation he moved to Marshall, Minnesota with his brother Rick where he worked in construction. He then returned to farming for a period before furthering his education at Minnesota West Technical College in Canby, Minnesota where he studied graphic arts and graduated in 1995. He later relocated to Madison, South Dakota and began working at Leader Printing. Jeff returned to Lake Benton and held various manufacturing positions in addition to his time spent at Hilltop Dairy as a parlor manager. He retired in 2016 after he was diagnosed with cancer. On Thursday March 21, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Jeff passed away at the Sunrise Manor in Tyler at the age of 60 years.
Jeff will always be remembered for his strong will and work ethic. He enjoyed a quiet life and found freedom in his independence. He appreciated nature, loved gardening, and had an interest in photography and art.
Throughout his life Jeff found joy in the simple things. As we look back at our time with him some things come to mind: his love of little green apples, taking the gravel roads home, cooking on the little charcoal grill, the lawnmower finally starting, and the leaves changing color. All these things he referred to as “the finer things in life”. He will be truly missed.
Jeff will be remembered by his children, John (Jing Guan) Fehl of Elmwood Park, Illinois, Megan (Nick) Jopson of Egan, South Dakota, and Mike Fehl of Canby, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Makenzie Kuyper, Tristan Fehl, Milo Fehl, Gannon Fehl, and Samuel Jopson; his father, Morris of Lake Benton, Minnesota; and siblings, Steve (Billie) Fehl, Gary (Becky) Fehl , Randy (Lori) Fehl, Sherry Fehl, Teresa (Bill) Bunkers, Tom (Robin) Fehl, and Jeanette Kirmeier. He was preceded in death by his mother Irene and brothers Richard and Jerry Fehl.
