Jeryld William Hachmann was born on April 8, 1936 to William and Helen (Johansen) Hachmann in Luverne, Minnesota. He was raised and attended school in Pipestone, Minnesota, graduating from Pipestone High School in 1954. On November 1, 1958, he was married to Dorothy Nenstiel in Flandreau, South Dakota. Following their marriage, they lived in Pipestone and later moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota, Goodhue, Minnesota and Redwing, Minnesota. He worked in various banks and sold insurance for Farm Bureau. In 2001, they retired to Florence, Minnesota where he drove school bus for Tyler Bus for 17 years which was his favorite job. They then moved back to Pipestone due to health reasons. On Monday, February 19, 2024, Jeryld passed away peacefully in his sleep at home at the age of 87.
He was baptized on May 10, 1936 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota and confirmed there on April 2, 1950. He served as treasurer at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and treasurer at Concordia Lutheran Church in Redwing. He served on the city council in Florence for several years and as Mayor.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy Hachmann of Pipestone; his children, Deborah Post of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Jeffrey (PJ) Hachmann of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Jon (Pati) Hachmann of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Mike Post; and his brother, Wilfried Hachmann.
