Joann Annette Cross

JoAnn Annette Cross was born to John and Johanna (DeGraff) Vermeer on May 17, 1934 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She lived with her family in rural Hills, Minnesota where she attended school and graduated from Hills High School. JoAnn was united in marriage to Marinus Cross on May 24, 1952 at the First Baptist Church in Luverne, Minnesota. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Luverne. Their marriage was blessed with four children; Roxy, Linda, Kathy and Delwyn. JoAnn proudly worked as the family’s homemaker while raising the children. The family made their home in Leota, Minnesota for nearly seven years before moving to Magnolia, Minnesota for the next 48 years. Following Marinus’ retirement the couple enjoyed spending their winters in Texas and returning home to be near family for the summers. In February of 2010 the couple returned their residence to Luverne.

On Tuesday, July 10, 2012, JoAnn died peacefully at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 78 years, one month and 23 days.

JoAnn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Magnolia where she was active in Naomi Circle. She enjoyed camping, dancing and caring for all of her cats.

JoAnn will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Marinus; her four children, Roxy Bonnett and her husband Archie of Magnolia, Minnesota, Linda Bruhn and her husband Richard of Magnolia, Kathy Medill of Tea, South Dakota, and Delwyn “D.J.” Cross of Branson, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Agnus Cross of Worthington, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents.
