Joanne Marie Luehmann

JOANNE MARIE (BROUILLET) LUEHMANN...

was born to Darriel and Blanche (Trembley) Brouillet on January 25, 1937 in Slayton, Minnesota. At the age of 8, she moved with her family to Pipestone, Minnesota where she was raised and received her education. While growing up, Joanne always had a passion about artwork. She was always drawing and would scribble on everything. While attending school she loved art, her favorite subjects to draw were animals, especially birds. In 1954, she was united in marriage to Milo Otkin and three children were born to this marriage. While living in Pipestone, she worked as a waitress, a cook and as a baker at the Pan-O-Gold Bakery. In 1977, she married Helmuth Luehmann of Jasper, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they resided in Jasper where she taught oil painting and mainly acrylics out of the basement of their home. Joanne also taught ceramics and ran a small business as well. Then she became interested in hand carving ducks and her husband helped in the making of lawn ornaments of every kind including: animals, nativity sets, bird houses, wishing wells, and light houses. On May 17, 2014, Joanne died surrounded by her family at her home in Jasper at the age of 77 years, 3 months, and 22 days.

Joanne is lovingly remembered by her husband, Helmuth; children, Cynthia (Ron) Oye of Aurora, South Dakota, Michael (Mary) Otkin of Colman, South Dakota, Ronald Otkin of St. Paul, Minnesota; step sons, Henry Luehmann of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Pete Leuhmann of Jasper, Minnesota; grandchildren, Joseph (Miriam) Oye of Tea, South Dakota, Christina Kling of Barnesville, Minnesota, Ricky Oye of Aurora, South Dakota, Joshua Otkin of Harrisburg, South Dakota, and Jeremy (Amber) Otkin of Pipestone, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Corey and Brandon Kling, Daniel, Matthew and Summer Oye, Braeden and Treyten Otkin, and Audyn Otkin; sister, Mary (Bill) Brey; brothers-in-law, Robert Jones and Henry Sankey; and one sister-in-law Nadine Brouillet. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter; parents, Darriel and Blanche Brouillet; one brother, David Brouillet; and two sisters, Jackie Jones and Marlo Sankey.
