Joseph Clifton Dunn, Jr

JOSEPH C. DUNN, JR. was born May 13, 1982 at Newport Hospital in Newport, Rhode Island to Joseph and Christine (Homer) Dunn. He was raised in Newport, Rhode Island and Virginia Beach, Virginia during which he received his education. Following school, he returned to Rhode Island and took on the role of helping his paternal grandfather who was very ill. Following his grandfather’s death, Joey then moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida to be closer to his mother and grandparents. He took a job at Gold Coast Fire Equipment. He enjoyed being close to his family to help out. His mother made the move to rural Garretson, South Dakota in 2007. In late 2008, Joey moved to Brandon, South Dakota to be closer to his family. He worked various jobs until late 2010 when he became employed at John Morrell’s in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Recently, he moved in with his Aunt Gwen, his cousin Grace and his mother near Garretson. On January 23, 2012 Joey died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Beaver Creek, Minnesota at the age of 29 years, 8 months and 10 days.

Joey enjoyed being a caretaker to his family members and friends. He loved to watch football and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots. He enjoyed playing poker, Playstation, watching pro wrestling, and keeping connected through Facebook. He recently started having an interest in horses, with plans for riding this coming summer. He loved children and was especially proud of his beautiful niece, Sofia.

Joey is lovingly remembered by his mother, Chrissy of rural Garretson; his sister, Brittany Dunn and her fianc Ryan Jacobsma of Luverne, Minnesota, and their daughter Sofia; step siblings, Jimmy Carroll and Katie Carroll of Newport, Rhode Island; his aunts, Gwen Homer of rural Garretson, Terry Gizdavich of Seaside, Oregon, and Rebecca Clark of Newport, Rhode Island; his uncles, John Homer, Michael Homer, and Eddie Homer, all of Newport, Rhode Island; his step grandfather, Arthur Kelly of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and numerous cousins and other family. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Dunn, Sr.; maternal grandparents, John Homer II and Ann Kelly; paternal grandparents, Robert Dunn and Ann Dunn; and his stepdad, Patrick Carroll.
