JULIE BOUW was born to Keith and Mona (Martensen) Thompson on August 4, 1959 in Slayton, Minnesota. She lived with her family on a farm near Lake Wilson, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. She attended school in Lake Wilson and Chandler, Minnesota, graduating from Chandler-Lake Wilson High School in 1977. She attended Stewart School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated in 1978. Upon completion of her education, she began working in Sioux Falls. On October 21, 1978, she was united in marriage to Eugene Bouw at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. Following their marriage, they resided in Trosky, Minnesota. She worked as a waitress at Gannon’s Restaurant and The Calumet Inn in Pipestone, Minnesota. Later, she became employed as a Nurses Aid at the VA Hospital in Luverne, Minnesota. Seven years later, she began working as a Home Health Care Aid and worked for Keith Kindt for 13 years. In 2005, she did home health care for different clients in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In
December, 2008, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Then, in January, 2012, she was diagnosed with brain cancer. On Friday, February 10, 2012, she was admitted to the Pipestone County Hospice House where she died on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the age of 52 years, six months and seven days.
Julie was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church where she was active in choir and cradle roll and served on the youth board. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and horseback riding. She especially enjoyed weekends at the lake with her family skiing. She loved spending time with her husband, children, and her granddaughter, Holly.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Eugene Bouw of Trosky, Minnesota; her son, Dustin Bouw of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and his special friend, Leah Brouwer; her daughter, Danielle Fick and her husband, Nathan of Beaver Creek, Minnesota; her granddaughter, Holly Fick; her mother, Mona Thompson of Alexandria, Minnesota; her brother, Jeffrey Thompson and his wife Roxanne of Alexandria, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Keith; one brother, Joel; and her grandparents.
