June Johnson

June 19, 1933 — February 3, 2013

JUNE DOROTHEA JOHNSON was born on June 19, 1933 in Omaha, Nebraska to William and Caroline (Christensen) Frost. In November, 1941 her family moved to the Christensen family farm near Ruthton, Minnesota, arriving in the Armistice Day Blizzard. June attended the Star School, which was a one-mile walk from the farm, through 8th grade. Her studies were completed at Ruthton High School, graduating in 1951. On August 5, 1951 she was united in marriage to Floyd Johnson at the Ruthton Methodist Church. Following their marriage, they farmed in Fountain Prairie Township, living on the same farm together for 62 years, interrupted only by Floyd’s tour of duty in Korea. She died in Pipestone on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the age of 79 years, seven months and 15 days.

June was an active member of the Verdi United Methodist Church where she was a faithful worker at their monthly suppers. She was a Pipestone County Master Gardener for 24 years and had been a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. She was a homemaker, raising five children on the farm. She is an especially cherished grandmother and is remembered for her delight in children and love for animals.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Floyd Johnson of Verdi, Minnesota; five children, David (Annette Frappier) Johnson of Ward, South Dakota, Connie (Larry) Rew of Northfield, Minnesota, Tedd (Joan) Johnson of Rowlett, Texas, Kathleen (Kevin) Thies of Arlington, Minnesota and Glenn (Sherri) Johnson of Pipestone, Minnesota. She will be greatly missed by her 11 grandchildren, Wesly and Dawson Johnson, Eric, Andrew and Sam Thies, Abby Molina Johnson, Tyson and Heidi Johnson, Caroline Rew, and Amy Toro and LeAnn Frappier; five great-grandchildren, Diego, Colton and Alexandra Molina Johnson and Aurora and Scarlette Toro; sister, Rene Quist of Pipestone, Minnesota; and brother, Roger (Jane) Frost of Pipestone, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amy; and her parents.
