KAREN JOLENE (SCHNEPF) ROOD was born to William and Marie (Brink) Schnepf on June 3, 1954. Karen and her family lived in Ihlen, Minnesota while Karen attended school in Pipestone. Karen graduated from Pipestone High School in 1972. She took some time off before attending the Pipestone Vocational school, receiving a certificate in bookkeeping in 1976. Karen married Kenneth Rood on July 2, 1977 at the First Lutheran Church in Pipestone. The couple purchased a home in Pipestone, where they raised their family. After an accident, Karen moved in to the Slayton Rehabilitation Center on November 29, 2017. Karen died on Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton at the age of 63 years, nine months, and 23 days.
Karen was a devout member of the First Lutheran Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. She loved spending time with her family, especially going on picnics and fishing with her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 40 years, Kenneth “Ken” of Pipestone, Minnesota; her beloved son, Chad (Latrica) Schnepf of Grain Valley, Missouri; two grandchildren, Shade (Amy) Whitner and Hunter Whitner; one great grandchild, Shaelyn; two siblings, Joan DeWitte of Pipestone, Minnesota and Robert Schnepf of Madison, South Dakota; and many loving friends and family members. Karen is preceded in death by her parents; William and Marie; and twin siblings, Paul and Patti.
