Karen Ward

KAREN LUCILLE WARD, was born on May 25, 1945 to R. Duane and Merle (Slagel) Ward in Luverne, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm west of Luverne and graduated from Beaver Creek High School. After her parents retired, Karen resided with them in Luverne. She moved to the Centennial Apartments and later the Poplar Creek assisted living facility. Most recently she was residing at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home. On Tuesday, January 9, 2018 Karen passed away at the Sanford Luverne Hospital at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 15 days.

Karen enjoyed word search puzzles, embroidery, reading magazines, and watching old sit-coms on television. She had an affinity for all animals. Karen had a soft heart for cats and enjoyed a few special ones during her life.

She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Lorna Wharton of Glenwood, Minnesota, and Marlis and her husband, Verlon Olson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister-in-law, Mary Ward of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ronald Ward.
