She was baptized at the American Reformed Church in Woodstock and raised in Woodstock until the age of 21. Kathy attended school in Pipestone with the special education class. In 1977, Kathy moved to Hiawatha Manor in Pipestone when it was built, where she lived until moving to the Odyssey House in Pipestone. She moved into the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone in 2014 where she continued to live until her death on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the age of 64 years, two months and five days.

She re-wrote all of the scriptures and hymns from the previous week’s church services – she had notebooks and notebooks full. Kathy also enjoyed walking and riding an exercise bike.
