Kathryn De Rycke

KATHRYN ANN DE RYCKE was born on July 24, 1943 to Harm and Dorothea (Wilson) Freese in Pipestone, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm southwest of Pipestone. Kathryn attended country school in District 24 through the eighth grade and then continued her education at the Pipestone High School. After her high school graduation in 1962, she went to beauty school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at Stewarts School of Hair Styling. On June 1, 1968, she was united in marriage to Eric De Rycke. Following their marriage, they moved to the Twin Cities area until Eric received his law degree. At that time, they returned to Pipestone where both of their daughters were born. In 1978, the family moved to Lake Benton, Minnesota where they lived for many years until the two were divorced in 1991. Kathy then moved to Sioux Falls where she worked as a secretary, first for Data Incorporated and then for Best Care Veterinary Clinic. Later she became employed as a legal assistant for Dennis McFarland where she continued to work until the time of her death. On April 18, 2014, Kathryn passed away at her home in Sioux Falls at the age of 70 years, 8 months, and 24 days.

One of the greatest joys of Kathy's life was when she became a grandma. She loved her family deeply. She also spent many good times with her best friends, Dot and Sandy. Kathy loved animals as well and will be missed by her two cats, Meeko and Miss Priss. For fun, Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, camping, traveling and going to the movies.

She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Erica De Rycke of Brookings, South Dakota, and Melissa De Rycke of Rochester, Minnesota; her two grandchildren, Tempest and Dante De Rycke; one sister, Darleen Anderson of Pipestone, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews; and her two best friends, Dot and Sandy. She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Joanne Mork; and two brothers-in law, Dewayne Mork and Lloyd Anderson.
