From the time of her birth to the age of 17 she grew up on the family farm northwest of Jasper. She attended Pipestone School from 1971 to 1978 and Edgerton Public School from 1978 to 1987. She moved to the Heritage II group home at Sioux Vocational in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on July 7, 1987. On December 29, 1992 she moved into her own apartment in Sioux Falls. She then moved to the Hollister group home in May of 2018 where she resided until passing away peacefully surrounded by family & friends on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the age of 51 years, five months, and five days.
Kathy was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls where she loved being a part of the chime choir. She was also an avid member of the People’s First Group. She loved to watch Twins baseball and caught as many games as possible! Kathy loved animals; growing up on the farm as well as being a part of 4-H with her family allowed her to be near them often. She enjoyed showing sheep, cattle, and even pigs. Her favorite animals, though, were dogs and cats. Kathy treasured the opportunity to bowl and weight lift in the Special Olympics. Kathy was fortunate to attend the International Special Olympics in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She liked spending time bowling with her league in Sioux Falls. Kathy was a happy person. She was always excited to greet people with a great big hug and a smile! She could talk a mile a minute to anyone she ran into. Kathy's infectious smile & shenanigans were a beacon to many, many people as it touched numerous lives.
Kathy is lovingly remembered by her parents, Paul and Caroline Krapf of Jasper; siblings, Jim (Jan) Krapf of Janesville, Minnesota, Nancy (Dean) Stoltenberg of Jasper, Pat (Walt) Unger of Goodhue, Minnesota, Bill (Lisa) Krapf of Jasper, and Barb Krapf of Luverne, Minnesota; 12 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives.
